Alice Matimba

Alice Matimba is the Overseas Courses Development Officer based at the Wellcome Genome Campus, Advanced Sciences and Scientific Conferences in Hinxton, United Kingdom. Her role is to coordinate and expand the portfolio of overseas courses and to develop links with networks and centres in low and middle income countries in Africa, Asia and South America.

Alice Matimba graduated with her PhD in Human Genetics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Thereafter, she pursued a pharmacogenomics postdoctoral research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, USA before joining the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences in 2012, where she focused on health education and research in non-communicable diseases, pharmacology, genomics and ethics.

She has received several grants and implemented research as the Principal Investigator on various projects. She is also a member of the Global Young Academy and was an inaugural fellow of the African Science Leadership Programme. Through this she has developed an extensive network with researchers and experts in academic and capacity development fields.
