AISSA WADE

Aissa Wade is a Professor of Mathematics at Penn State University, USA, and President of the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences of Senegal (AIMS-Senegal).

Aissa Wade graduated from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal, with a Master's degree in Mathematics and obtained her PhD in Mathematics from Montpellier II University, France. She has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Abdus Salam International Center (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy.

Prior to her appointment as President of AIMS-Senegal, Aissa Wade served as Academic Director at AIMS-Senegal and held visiting faculty positions at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA; African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, Nigeria; and Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France.

Her research interests include Poisson geometry and related fields such as symplectic topology, contact geometry and mathematical physics. She has published numerous articles in mathematical journals including the Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France, the Journal of the London Mathematical Society, the Canadian Mathematical Bulletin. She is co-editor of the African Diaspora Journal of Mathematics and deputy editor of Afrika Matematika.

Born in Dakar, Aissa Wade is a passionate promoter of science and technology, and a passionate woman educator for the socio-economic development of Africa. Aissa Wade is a member of the Association of African Women in Mathematics.
