The first meeting dedicated to young African scientists in North America
What?
YAS_NA 2020 is the first conference dedicated to young African scientists in North America. It will bring together 250 master students, PhD candidates and post-doctoral scientists working throughout North America. Panels and talks will enable them to learn from African leading researchers, business representatives in Africa and academic leaders, about the opportunities to carry on their high-level scientific career in Africa. They will also be able to talk freely with the speakers, especially during a special networking reception.
When?
The meeting will be held from 27th to 29th May 2020 .
Where?
UQAM’s central campus and its Pierre-Dansereau Science Complex are located in the heart of two of central Montreal’s liveliest districts: the Quartier Latin [Latin Quarter] and the Quartier des spectacles [Entertainment District]. Montreal, the capital of Quebec, is a major university and industrial centre.
Who?
YAS_NA 2020 is an initiative of the online media Afriscitech, already organizing the YASE 2018 conference - Young African Scientists in Europe / Jeunes chercheurs adricains en Europe. The event is organized by the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Why?
YAS_NA 2020 will provide access to information, present initiatives and foster networking so that young African scientists in North America are better aware of opportunities to participate in the scientific and technological advancement of Africa. Special consideration will be given to young female African scientists.
How?
The Scientific Committee, chaired by Isabelle Adolé Glitho, Dean of the Faculty of Science of Lomé, Togo, a member of the Scientific Council of the Agence universitaire de la francophonie and Kwame Nkrumah Prize laureate, will ensure the quality of the program and the speakers.
The local organizing committee is chaired by Abdoulaye Baniré Diallo, Professor at UQAM.
